Have You Tried Green Smoothies Yet?

I'll admit it. I was hesitant at first. My kids thought I was downright crazy. But now I'm a convert. I'm talking, of course, about the green smoothie phenomenon.

Green smoothies are super-charged delivery systems for fruit and veggies. A tasty way to pump up your vitamins, fiber and antioxidants. And they're a delicious shortcut to a full-blown healthy meal.

Basically, a green smoothie uses green leaves (spinach, kale, lettuce etc.) and water (or coconut water) as the base for your blitzed-up drink. On top of that, you can add honey or your favorite fruit as a natural sweetener.

In a couple of weeks, I'll be kicking off my Sisterbration MASTERMIND™ with a seven-day detox program. I've been working on my favorite green smoothie recipes to include in my eBook which will serve as a step-by-step guide through the detox program.

There are several smoothie recipes I enjoy but, hands down, this one is my favorite. It tastes great and is only 100 calories per 1-cup serving.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 green apple, peeled and seeded
  • 1/2 medium banana, peeled
  • 1/2 cup fresh green grapes, frozen
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, lightly packed
  • 1/3 cup fresh pineapple chunks, frozen
  • 1/4 cup coconut water (or vanilla-flavored Greek yogurt)
  • Honey or agave nectar, as needed

Directions

  1. Place the first six ingredients into a blender.
  2. Blend for 30-45 seconds or until desire consistency is reached, adjusting the speed as needed.
  3. Add honey or agave nectar to sweeten. Enjoy!

Try it for yourself! I'd love to hear from you. Plus, let me know if you've tried other green smoothies. What's your favorite recipe?
